We are looking for a hands-on assistant manager (not necessarily in the hospitality and catering profession) to support the manager in motivating the staff /team and develop the menu and café needs. They will support in maintaining an established café environment while supporting the manger and directors with ethos of “The Place Cafe”.

Salary: £17,400 pa, plus overtime, plus tips

Opening days: Initially Monday to Friday- with opportunity for growth of Saturday opening
Working hours: Working hours would flocculate between 7.30am till 8.00pm, with the growth opportunity of extending till 10.00pm
Job Purpose
Responsible for supportin the manger in the day to day running of “The Cafe Place”, including maintaining excellent customer service at all times, you will ensure that guests always receive a consistently high level of service at reception, counter and the dining tables, inside and outside.
Managing the reception, kitchen as well as bar and dining areas, you will be a strong team-manager, preferably with some experience of managing a F&B team. Food served will be light bites, food platters, jacket potatoes, paninis, sandwiches, pies, pattisories, desserts, confectionary, veriety of coffees, other hot and cold drinks, wines, bottle beers, limited range of spririts and mixers and deli style food produnts, to be consumed in house or take away. Also arranging outside catering as per demand.
Retention of customers is a key responsibility. You will be a strong relationship builder, and be happy to spend time on customers, encouraging feedback, and addressing any problems, queries and complaints.
Key Relationships
· Responsible to the manger and directors;

· Responsible to users of the services offered by “The Cafe Place”.
· Working closely with the manger, staff and Directors
· Liaising directly with customers who request the conference and outside catering facilities and communicating the information to the directors.
Person Specification

Main responsibilities
Supporting the manger with issues relating to Staffing, service, training and monitoring
· Supporting manger with staff rotas
· The Café assistant manager must be on the rota for all 40 contractual hours, although in the manger’s absence some hours may be set aside for administrative duties.
· Responsible for organising holiday and sickness cover as per the rota. This may occasionally mean covering for others at short notice.
· Support manger in providing adequate “induction” and “hands on training” to new workers to ensure a high quality of service, especially in relation to health, safety and hygiene matters.
· Attend regular meetings with manger and staff providing an open forum for staff to be given new information.
· Responsible for helping the manger in organising cafe cleaning as well as ensuring that staff clear up properly during and after shifts. Ensure adequate supply of cleaning materials.
· Provide customers with a high degree of service.
Stock Control, Ordering and Financial Monitoring
· Support manger in insures a regular stock rotation and control, including evidence of wastage and staff consumption.
· Support manger in ordering stock within budget using the systems supplied by the directors, ensuring good quality and variety of produce at all times.
· Maintenance of bar/kitchen equipment and organise repairs where necessary.
· Support manger in maintaining and showing evidence of the pricing structure of all foods, drinks, bar snacks and meals etc as per the systems already in place by the directors.
· Support manger in organising the staff on duty in the most cost effective way and staying within budgets.
· Support manger in security measures being adhered to especially with regard to tills, safes and staff personal belongings.
· Collating and recording the daily financial information and communicating the findings to the manager and the managing Director. The system of monitoring and control of cash will already be in place.

Front of House Service
· Advise the manger to assist in the development of the menu for the Café Place.
· Maintain a high level of service to the customers.
