- Job Description:
Our Clients distribution centres, a mixture of ambient food, non food or composite are intensive 24 hour 7 days per week operations.
They are currently seeking a Transport Team Manager to work double day shifts at their non – food DC in Buckinghamshire.
Reporting into the DC Transport Manager, the successful candidate will be jointly managing a large team of drivers and support staff ensuring that the right products reach our clients stores shelves on time, every time.
As part of the DC team of Transport Team Managers you will assist the DC Transport Manager with all transport matters within the site including vehicle maintenance and reviewing the service / MOT plan for LGV and related equipment.
You will manage the scheduling system to maximize delivery capacity and will work with our clients stores to ensure peak delivery performance. You will manage large team of drivers to ensure full legal and security compliance and will enforce the driver dress code.
You will also support new store openings through effective planning and co-ordination and implement and maintain trunking routines.
Finally you will report and investigate all accidents / incidents, review Well Driven reports and take appropriate action and manage the tractor and trailer cleaning programme.
In addition you will be expected to develop and implement initiatives to continuously improve operational performance and service standards and you will ensure the DCs transport operations processes are managed within our clients Health and Safety, Legal and Security policy framework.

Knowledge and Skills:
You will need to demonstrate the ability to translate our Clients vision into how you and your transport team operate daily, as well as a hands on approach to succeed in a demanding environment.
This is a frontline role leading a team of Drivers and transport support staff and championing excellence, which requires transport supervisory / management experience coupled with a sound grasp of current practice and transport legislation.
Ideally your experience will have been gained by working in a fast moving customer facing distribution environment and having managed teams of up to 30 people.
A CPC qualification is desirable but not essential.
As an experienced leader of people you will have the proactive ability to challenge existing practices and drive through change to benefit the business.
Excellent analytical, organisation and communication skills coupled with influencing skills and teamwork, will already have ensured your success as a supervisor or manager.

The salary range is £25-32k pa. The successful candidates starting salary will be determined by the candidates skill set and experience. In addition there is a range of excellent benefits and overtime is payable under some circumstances.
